Kirsten's 9th Birthday

Yesterday was Kirsten's 9th birthday! First of all, the girls and I all went to Toys-R-Us to find her a birthday present. She got 9 dollars from her grandma and wanted to buy something with it. She had the idea of getting a microphone for a while and found the perfect one there. It is an iCarly mic. She even wanted it over any Karaoke machine, which were more expensive. This mic required an amplifier! Hmmm, so we bought it, went home, then Brian left to get her an amplifier. He found one at a pawn shop for $30. Great deal! She LOVES it! The kids played on it for a long, long time! They even involved Pounce!
They also like to plug their MP3 player into a small pair of speakers to sing along with the song. "What would you like to say, Pounce?"
She really wants to be a star when she gets older, I would love to set her up for some voice lessons! I thought this was funny! The girls did the "Rock Star" pose.

They got a little silly after a while.
We all went out to eat at a Mexican restaurant, then went to Katrina and Antonio's to celebrate with cake and more Karaoke. We all had a great time!
She picked out a "Jack Sparrow" carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. It was delicious!
Oh, I have to mention the cute thing Shannon said as we were cutting the cake. The kids were all deciding what piece they wanted and Shannon exclaimed, "I want his body!" Antonio laughed and asked, "Aren't you a little too young for him?" Hahaha, too funny!
While we ate our cake, I decided to let Shannon bonk Kirsten's head with her next 2 gifts. I got her jewelry! The first thing she saw was a sparkly heart ring. It's just what she wanted.
Then she saw the butterfly necklace. It was sparkly too! She looks really sparkly now!
Happy Birthday, my sweet girl! I love you!

Kirsten's Class Shirt

Last week, Kirsten came home with the new shirt that her whole class made together. They each drew a portrait of themselves. I think it's the cutest idea EVER!!! I love it! It's a great memory for them to look back on. She's the very last one next to the star on the bottom right.

School Valentine Parties

Today the girls had their Valentine parties at school. For some reason, the school likes to hold the parties on Fridays rather than the actual holiday. I went around most of the day taking pictures for the yearbook. Here are a few snapshots of the girls when I saw them. Kirsten's class did the tea party from Alice in Wonderland. They made paper hats that morning.
Shannon's kindergarten class each got to decorate a paper bag to put their Valentines in.
This was cute of Shannon. She looked at the card and realized it didn't have a chocolate candy on it. Oops!

Brian's Birthday

Yesterday was Brian's 41st birthday. That evening, we all went out to eat at Texas Road House. We met up with Brian's sister, Katrina, and Antonio. Their food is great! I ordered the chicken fried chicken. About half way through my dinner, I mentioned to Brian, "this doesn't taste like chicken". I guess the waitress heard me and realized she got my order wrong and brought out the chicken. I got the country fried steak ordered instead which was good too. I got an extra meal delivered for free, that's nice! Of course I couldn't eat most of it! After dinner, we all went home for cake. We got one of those triple chocolate cakes from Costco...so, so rich!
Katrina and Antonio gave him "The King's Speech" on DVD, which was exactly was he wanted. I was about to buy him the same thing.
Later that night, the girls put together the Valentines that they brought for their school parties today.

Skating!

Tonight, the kids all got to go out for a free night of skating with their school. Kirsten found her friend Emily there, so they both hung out together along with Rachael. They had a good time, although they couldn't skate too fast, but they did alright. We rented skates for Carter and Shannon as well. Carter gave it about a minute out on the skating rink, and then decided it wasn't for him. He would much rather take the scooter. Shannon tried as well but just gave up. She couldn't even stand up in skates. We eventually got the scooter instead.

Shannon's First Lost Tooth!

Last night, the girls and I drove over to a scrapbook store to pick up some paper. As I was parking, Shannon yelled out that her wiggly tooth just came out! This was her very first lost tooth. Instead of being excited, she was a little worried about the blood that started appearing, so Kirsten handed her a napkin to hold it on while we all went inside the store.
Later that night, we all sort of forgot about the tooth and she fell asleep. I knew I had to put her tooth under her pillow and I wanted her to know that it was there. She was just in bed with me so I woke her up to let her know than we all went to sleep. By morning, she remembered! She lifted her pillow to find $2.00. Wow! She was pretty excited!

Groundhog Day!

Yesterday for Groundhog Day, Shannon's kindergarten class all glued little paper groundhogs to Popsicle sticks and stuck them in cups. I remember the other kids doing this same exact thing... now that it's my youngest one doing this, I wanted to remember it. It looks like we have another six weeks of winter because they announced that the groundhog did indeed see his shadow.
